"Turning pitaka" is just reading a few lines at the start, middle and end portions of the Sutras. Cylindrical in shape, it is a religious artefact commonly used by Chinese Buddhists. The rim is embossed with esoteric Vairocana Mantra. A piece of scripture is placed inside. Every turn of the wheel represents a single recital of the scripture and mantra. The wheel is a convenient way to recite the sutra. Vairocana Buddha Prayer Wheel Buddhist Prayer Wheel was originally a revocable book shelf for the sutras. This cylindrical book shelf had a central shaft for it to rotate, for easier searching for sutras; hence, called revolving scriptures. The revolving scriptures originated from ‘revolving pitaka’, which means turning to read the sutra; and is different from ‘reading pitaka’. ‘Reading pitaka’ requires one to read everyday and not to miss any words; whereas ‘turning pitaka’ is just to read the few lines at the start, middle and end portions. buddha prayer wheel MEDICINE BUDDHA 6 Inches H X 4.5 Long X 3 Inches Wide Standard Mold. This magnificent statue is a superb representation of Medicine Buddha, the healer of physical and mental illness. It is a wonderful adaptation in the tradition of Tibetan Thangka painting. Made with cold cast resin with antique bronze finish and hand painted with color accents, the definition and the intricate details of this piece are simply breathtaking. The photograph does not do it justice. This statue is much more beautiful in person and is heavy for its size. It is truly a well-made product and an excellent representation of Asian Art, very much worthy of your art collection or as the centerpiece for your personal altar.
